RE: RE: RE: RE: Re: Request for a custom tabulation - Uniform Crime Reporting Survey, victims aged 16 and 17 of sexual offences by age of accused, 2019 to 2024- CAS-1217087
Hello,
Statistics Canada now confirms in writing that the tabulation is feasible for 2019 to 2025. The disclosure risk stated on 11 September 2026 is no longer advanced. What is left is 14 numbers: victims aged 16 and 17 of police-reported sexual offences, Canada as a whole, by 2 accused age groups, for each of 7 years.
The price is 308.46 dollars plus taxes. At the rate of 102.82 dollars an hour quoted earlier by Statistics Canada, that is 3 hours of work.
Section 3 of the Statistics Act makes it a duty of Statistics Canada to collect, compile, analyse, abstract and publish statistical information relating to the social condition of the people. These 14 numbers are that information. They are requested for the good of the public. They go before the Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs, the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights and the Committee on the Rights of the Child. Parliament set the age of protection at 16 in 2008. Statistics Canada has confirmed in writing that it knows of no update to the one finding it published, in 2014, on data of 2012.
The fee is set by contract. The Fees Report of Statistics Canada states that such contracts are negotiated between the Minister and the client and cover the fee. A negotiated fee can be set at zero.
WHAT I REQUIRE, BY 19 OCTOBER 2026.
1. Produce the 14 numbers at no charge, in the public interest, and publish them.
2. If Statistics Canada refuses, name in writing the provision of the Statistics Act, or of any other Act, regulation or Treasury Board instrument, that prevents Statistics Canada from producing these 14 numbers at no charge, and the name and title of the official who decided to charge. If 19 October 2026 passes without both answers, the file goes to the Chief Statistician of Canada.

Hello Danilo,
Thank you for your patience while we assessed your request.
Our analysts completed the feasibility assessment for the custom data tabulation you requested with the following specs: 'For Canada as a whole, for each year from 2019 to 2024, the number of victims of police-reported sexual offences in a single age group, 16 and 17, cross-tabulated by only two accused-person age categories: under 18 years and 18 years and older. Victim counts only.'
The analysts determined that the requested custom tabulation is feasible and can be produced with annual data from 2019 to 2025, the most recent year available. The cost of producing this custom tabulation would be $308.46 plus applicable taxes and the turnaround time is approximately 7 weeks from the date of purchase confirmation.
Please let me know if you would like to proceed or if you have any questions.

Hello Danilo,
We appreciate your inquiry and the interest in our data. As the publicly available data products and published materials do not fully meet your specific information requirements, we can provide a customized data solution. However, the development and production of such a tabulation must be conducted on a cost-recovery basis in accordance with our established practices and therefore cannot be provided free of charge at this time.
Statistics Canada publishes an enormous amount of statistical data and insights to help Canadians better understand their country's population, resources, economy, society, and culture on our website free of charge. However, when organizations and individuals require custom data tabulations to meet their specific needs, they are produced on a cost recovery basis. Such "custom services are not funded by the budget that Parliament allocates annually to Statistics Canada". Therefore, Statistics Canada charges for the time required to produce the custom tabulation according to the data user's requirements.
